Cannot turn off fetch or push after 3.0 ...

I noticed that my 3G data usage is increasing even if I didn't use my phone outside WiFi coverage. And I kept getting new emails even I didn't open my email application. I turned off push and fetch new data for both of my Gmail and Yahoo account, and set them to "manual" in "fetch new data"-
