Has anyone notice on the iPhone 3G that has been upgrade to OS3.0.1 that the contact name to phone number resolution is a bit screwy?
My iphone will do the following
If a contacts phone number if set to the long format (international) ie 6427 123456789 it will resolve there name in SMS

Calendar stopped synching with Exchange ...
For some unknown reason, my iPhone calendar is no longer recognized by our university's exchange server. It had worked for months then I began noticing that certain items would appear on my desktop computer (Windows, MS Office, Outlook 2007). Now it no longer recognizes any calendar events..i.e. my iPhone calendar is completely blank. Outlook on the desktop works just fine, mail continues to synch between exchange server and iPhone but calendar does not synch at all. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the account, restoring iPhone. Nothing helps.

I've just bought a 3GS iPhone and have transferred the contact numbers from my SIM card to the iPhone.
However, I use Address Book on both a MacBook and an iMac - the entries in these are not always identical. Is it possible for me to 'sync' just one group of contacts from the Address Book on my MacBook to my iPhone and then another group of contacts from my iMac to the iPhone? If any of these contacts have partial details transferred from my old SIM card will that mean I have duplicates or does the iPhone recognise that the SIM has only transferred, say, one contact number and will then go ahead and complete details for email address and home address?
Sorry if this is a very basic question but I don't want to end up with lots of duplicate entries and couldn't find the answer elsewhere

I have a 3G running 3.0 the alphabetic tabs on the ride side of the Contacts window only work thru the letter E the rest don't respond at all. I tried a hard reboot and a software reinstall.

i am trying to transfer my contacts from my old phone to my iphone. my mac address book is not installed or i might have deleted it a while ago. now i don't know how to transfer the contacts as a vcf file to my iphone.

Two iPhones, two accounts, but I need ...
I recently sold my old iPhone and got a new one. Through an unfortunate series of events I lost all the contacts on my new phone. I borrowed the one I sold (which still had my contacts on it) and synced it up with iTunes. That went fine but when I plug in my new phone it syncs but none of the contacts sync with it. I think because the phones have different names, it wont let me get my numbers. Is there a way to go from iphone to vcf card or just a way to view the contacts that I synced into iTunes? The most frustrating thing is knowing that I have those contacts and not being able to get to them.

Calendar event alarm doesn't work ...
I've set several calendar events in Calendar and set the alarm to email me two days prior to the event at 6am. These are not work on my iMac, nor on my iPhone, but do on my iPod as alerts. When I check the event on my iPhone, it shows no alert.

Mail Disappears after arriving ...
I searched for this but couldn't find anything. I have Gmail (fetch, not push) set up on my iPhone 3G, latest software. 75% of the time, when I get a new mail message, my phone alerts me, displays the icon badge or email itself if I'm in mail, and then the message just disappears. I then reload, the message redownloads (and plays the new mail chime/vibrates again) and then always stays on the second go around. This happens both when I manually check and when the iPhone auto checks (i.e. I'll get a "new mail" chime, but my mailbox shows empty when I check so I open mail and reload and the message downloads).
Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to happen the majority of the time, but never to more than one email at a time (e.g. if i get 5 emails, only one disappears) and they even dissapear as I am looking at them during a manual fetch of mail. If I can open the message up quick enough, sometimes it disappears as I even have the message open, not just in the list view.
Help? It is really, really annoying.

Hi, thanks for reading me.
I've just had to restore an iPhone3GS after closing a MobileMe trial, and loosing some valuable data.
I ran the restore, however although the restore worked, I received an iTunes message that 'Contacts failed to restore due to data error"
Can anyone help restore these contacts? I've managed to use a backup extraction software to locate .sqlitedb files - not sure if that's any use?

Yahoo mail will not, "Load More ...
When I go into my Yahoo mail account using the iPhone's mail app, scroll down to the bottom of my list in my inbox, and press the, "Load More Messages" button it will not load more. It's really making me upset. Anyone else having this problem? I have more messages to load but it just refuses to load them. Please help!

iPhone can't forward messages with ...
My problem is when I receive an email with an attachment I can view the attachment but can't forward the attachment. Example, I receive an email with pictures. I can view all pictures in the email but when I try to forward the email the person that gets the email only gets the text portion. The pictures do not forward. The received email shows where the pictures should be but only small question marks appear. Why does this happen? How can this be fixed?... Yes, I am including attachments from original message.
This is even more of a problem when I send from an iPhone to another iPhone.

"Create New Contact" from Recents ...
When I click on the Create New Contact button from the recent phonecall list, it lets me create the contact but it doesn't get added to my Contacts. The new contact info, however, appears on the Recents lists as if it were part of my Contacts.

Earlier today I added one contact in my Address Book and edited another.
After several hours, neither change has shown up on MobileMe nor on my iPhone.
Changes that I made to iCal have shown up both in MobileMe and on my iPhone.
I have even "forced" a sync but Contacts refuse to sync.
Any ideas?

I have my emails forwarded to the email account I use on my iPhone. Everything comes across fine, except calendar invitations. These come across with an attached "mime-attachment.ics" file...I just want to open it so I can see the time being proposed... don't need it to update my calendar. I am not getting email on my phone. I use Gmail and I have sent several tests to myself and nothing shows up. Push isn't working and even when I reload it, the messages don't show up. I've restarted several times and now I am at a loss for what to do. This has been going on for about a week now and it's very frustrating.

How to attribute a cert to an email ...
I have a few certs I created myself to encrypt my emails.
With the iPhone configuration tool I successfully import my certs as signed certs (creation of a profile with reference), nevertheless I cannot attribute the cert to an email account even if this account is in the same profile and I cannot read my encrypted emails.
It seems that the option is only available for exchange accounts (authentification informations). Any Idea to solve this problem ?

calendar events change when sync with ...
iPhone calendar all-day events appear one day early when syncing with Outlook 2007 in Windows 7. The problem does not exist when I use Windows Vista. It only affects all-day events, not any other calender events, not even repeatable all-day events as birthdays.
In time-zone settings in Windows Vista the zones are all marked GMT, in Windows 7 they all are marked UTC. I think this is the problem and suspect that changes has to be made in iTunes.
However I'm curious if anyone had the same problem and/or found any solution to the problem.
P.S. When syncing with iCals on the internet (e.g. gmail calender) the problem does not appear, only on the iPhone.

Different between Yahoo and Hotmail... ...
I have set up a Yahoo account and also a Hotmail account on my iPhone 3GS.
It seems though that the previous 'read' messages on the Hotmail account download to my Phone as UNread.
But the previously read messages on my Yahoo account download to my phone and show as read, which is what I want.
Is there anything I can do that will make the Hotmail account work like the Yahoo one?
The main reason is that I have over 1000 read mails on my Hotmail account and each time I load it up they keep downloading to my phone!

A few months ago, I started to notice a few contacts missing from my phone. The strange thing is, if I receive a text from that person or manually enter the number, it shows up and I can edit it but it's not in any of the two contact lists I have.
When I enter new contacts, they won't save either. You can't search for them and they appear to be nowhere but yet they do show up if that person calls or texts me. I need to save these contacts, is there any way to get them back? I have a backup of all my old contacts but all the new ones are in iPhone limbo...

Whenever I sync my iPhone with iTunes I get the error message, "iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone 'Henry's iPhone" because an error occurred remapping record identifiers./Try syncing your iPhone again. If I uncheck the mail accounts sync option in the info tab, the problem goes away, but returns when I recheck the option.

How to sync old contacts to New iPhone? ...
My dad had an old iPhone up until the Summer when he decided to sell it. He has just bought a new one and has set it up as a "New iPhone" instead of using a backup from his older 1st Gen iPhone.
We cannot figure out how to get his old contacts back that were backed up in iTunes. There is no "Contacts" Tab when Syncing to iPhone. There is a contacts box that I could tick in the "Info" Tab but this didn't sync any of his old contacts.

i was just wondering if its me or its just the phone that wont allow cogeco emails to be pushed to your phone. the only way it will come automatically is if you set the fetch to 15 mins..am i wrong? does anyone have a solution?

Trouble syncing calendar and contacts ...
I have had my iPhone for over a year and have had not problems syning my calendar and contacts from my PC (Office) to my iPhone until yesterday. The syncing process starts,on the iTunes page I see that the back up is created then it switches to "Syncing Contacts" and stays on that status indefinitely - this morning I finally stopped the syncing process after about 20 minutes - the entire time it stayed on Syncing Contacts. Not sure what I need to do to correct this ... can anyone help!

The only thing i was connected to was the charger - which wasnt to a computer.
i went to txt someone and every contact i had was completely wiped clean!
i have just connected to my mac and my iphone has wiped the contacts on my phone clean as well.
what the f. is going on apple!
The other day i was working on iweb and the application crashed and wiped out a whole days work.
For the first time in 3 years im really starting to lose faith in these products. At least microsoft have a "recovered" featured....where is this with Mac?

The only thing that has changed for me recently is that i took on a mobileME account. Today, my phone was connected to nothing...nothing other than the charger - which was done through the mains adaptor...not a computer.

My iphone suddenly stopped receiving e-mail messages from one of my mail accounts. It was working properly a few days ago. Now I get the following message "Cannot Get Mail...The connection to the server "......."failed.
Note, I am able to access this e-mail account from my ibook, so the server is working properly. Also, the other e-mail account on my iphone is also working properly.

Deleted Microsoft Exchange iphone ...
I was having problems with my Hotmail account and so deleted it with the intention of setting it up again. Now I am unable to add my account in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendar and get the message "Account Already Exists. Only one Exchange ActiveSync account can be configured". But I don't have any other accounts. How can I get it to recognise that I have deleted the original account?
Is there a way around this without resetting the phone?

other provider if Live won't work). The iPhone web pages don't list Live email account information any more like they used to. So I'm not sure what is going on with Live email and the iPhone.
I have an iPhone 2G (just today updated to OS 3.1) with the data plan. I have a Live mail account that I'll be using if possible. I currently have the updated contact list and calendar file that I want to use in Outlook 2003 on my XP desktop computer. I want to PUSH these items onto the iPhone because they have been painfully updated (from multiple accounts from multiple pc and phone upgrades). I want to continue using Outlook on the PC if possible, but want to migrate to using my notebook (that I plan to upgrade from Vista to Win7). I want the messages to dowload to the hard drive on the notebook for archival.
I know I should upgrade the Vista machine to Win7 before I start trying to
sync these 3 devices/areas (2 devices and 1 cloud??? ;-)). Once that is accomplished, I want to sync the notebook (outlook email and calendar and contacts) with the iphone (email, contacts, calendar) and Live (email, contacts, calendar). Will opened email show as "read" on the other devices at next logon? Will calendar updates work properly from any location and propagate to the other devices? Same for Contacts: can I change one anywhere and have it properly update at the other two locations? What about deleting email messages (or contacts, or calendar items), can it be done from any of the 3 and propagate to the the other 2?

Smart Groups on IPhone? ...
So I want to setup a Smartgroup that eliminates anyone that doesn't have an email or phone number listed. I've got the group setup, but then notice that the iPhone Contacts app doesn't include smart groups. Any suggestions? I want to avoid having to manually setup this group all the time.

Calendar event alarm doesn't work ...
I've set several calendar events in Calendar and set the alarm to email me two days prior to the event at 6am. These are not work on my iMac, nor on my iPhone, but do on my iPod as alerts. When I check the event on my iPhone, it shows no alert.

Callender reminder alarm useless ...
I keep missing my reminders as the alarm sound is to low, the whole point of setting an alarm is THAT YOU CAN HEAR IT! Ony Palm Treo you can set the alarm as loud as you want even use mp3?s and the alarm keeps sounding till you turn it off.
It appears the IPhone is nice and flashy but as a business phone it's useless if you can't hear your reminder alerts.

I have 3 email addresses in my phone and they have worked fine, phone is 1 month old . Two days ago it start acting up . Open mail app and it checks for mail and closes app as soon as it is done checking for mail before you can do anything. It will tell me how my emails I have but thats it. Once it has checked for email if you try to open it again it will close almost instantly. I just found the new update 3.1.2 and installed it but same thing happens.

I haven't been able to receive any email all day. I just sent a msg. and it went out. I also have not been able to get safari to work today.
I have used the phone to receive a call and I texted in and out.

Sorry - How do I sync subscribed ...
Hi, this is a really simple problem but I have multiple subscribed iCal calendars on my MacBook and I use MobileMe, however they have never sync'd over the air with MM. I understand that since 3.1 OS that this is a feature which is supported but on both my wife and I's iPhone 3GS the subscribed calendars are not syncing.
I have not found any solution to my problem, just lots of posts saying that they have found the solution in the recent update to the iPhone OS. Can anyone point me specifically to the setting so that they will sync across, I have never considered myself a computer idiot but I need an idiots guide to this one.

Yahoo Mail Draft folder unread count ...
My Yahoo "Drafts" folder on my iPhone 3GS is always showing an unread count that is incorrect. All of my drafts are read; in fact, sometimes the Unread number is higher than the number of drafts in the folder.
I wonder if this has anything to do with it: when I go to "Advanced" in my Yahoo account on the phone, the folder to choose to hold my drafts on the server is called "Draft" but it is actually called "Drafts" in my Yahoo account.
This mail account is set up as an IMAP account; I believe I created it using the phone's Yahoo selection. It's been working fine for 2.5 years, on my original iPhone and now on my 3GS. This unread count problem is new over the past few days, I'm pretty sure before the upgrade to 3.1.
I have tried some of the advice out there: creating a new email on my phone, saving it to Drafts and then sending it. But nothing seems to work.

Without having changed any settings on my 3GS, suddenly it does not send mail. I can send mail from my MacBook using the same account. Both the 3GS and the MacBook receive mail. The message on the 3GS is "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server "stmp.mac.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings

wonder if someone might help me?? Some of my Iphone contacts seem to be randomly disappearing and now I have noticed that other contacts telephone numbers and details have disappeared (just left name).
I am syncing with MacBook Pro, and also have Entourage installed (which I rarely use).
I have tried turning On/Off MobileMe and numerous other solutions - nothing is working and the contacts have disappeared from my computer also. I am now starting to loose faith in the phone as some of the contacts are pretty important to my work in the Emergency Services.
Any solutions/advice gratefully accepted!!

I'm trying to help a friend. I don't know which iPhone she has. She recently had a bunch of problems with her Mac, which necessitated doing a new system install.
She had been using Entourage for her mail client and to keep her contacts. She sync'ed her iPhone to her Entourage contacts.
She has decided that she does not want to install Entourage again. Can you export her contacts from her iPhone to some other application on her Mac? She is afraid of losing her contacts.

'import SIM card' function does not work ...
I do not manage to import the names and phone numbers that are on my SIM card. I read that the function 'import SIM card' only works with alphanumerical characters, it could be that "" signs are forbidden. As most of my stored numbers start with "" for the international code, it's major issue. It is pretty crucial that I manage to import my SIM card info. help!

Notes App crashes when opened in iphone ...
This is so weird, but whenever I open the Notes app, it launches, but I just see a blank page. Then after about 3 seconds, it crashes and winds up back in springboard.
I tried deleting all my notes on my iMac, and having iTunes over write then on the iPhone...no luck.
Any ideas here? I did a clean restore today.

Syncing mac based iphone with windows ...
I just purchased an iphone and I would like to sync my Outlook contacts. My iTunes library is on my macbook pro and I sync my iphone to my mac. However, all of my contacts are on my work laptop which is windows based. I know with the ipods you either have to set it to sync as windows or mac based. Is the same true with the iphone? Is there anyway to keep my iTunes synced on my mac, but also sync the iphone to my Windows Outlook contacts?

So I am getting a netbook tomorrow and would like to start updating my iPhone on there(instead of my old crappy PC which I have been using to update iPod/iPhone for 4 years now). I recently obtained a Mac Mini Server. I had a problem syncing my iPhone after moving all my data to network home folders.
Everytime I got the following message:
"Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer"
"Multiple computers are logged in to this same network home folder."
"Please turn off syncing on all other computers..."
There were no other computers syncing into the same directory.
This turned out to be a wrong error message.
I solved the problem by turing off the firewall on the server.
That was strange. Although the firewall rules were set to allow all traffic within the local zone iTunes had a problem with its presence.

I'm creating some instructions for our on call personell. All of us have an iPhone, and the on call schedule is published via CalDav on Google Calendar. I'd like to simply attach w files to my instructions so I can tell our users to "click here" to have the calendar automatically set up and added via the caldav interface rather than type the URL as the calendar ID is huge. Is this possible? I'd also like to attach a note that will go into notes if it's opened on the iphone if that's possible as well.

iPhone Mail won't load photos ...
Hey, I have a little annoying problem on my iPhone. In mail, when I receive a photo attachment and click it, it I get the spinning icon... but it never loads the photo. In order to get the photo to show up, I have to restart the phone. Any idea why this is or what I can do?

Un-commanded Mail App Exit ...
Suddenly my iPhone 3G has decided to jump out of the Mail app (back to the main icon page). After finishing 'Checking for mail' the screen freezes for a few seconds (e.g. can't select or scroll) then it exits to the main icon page. It does this every time I try to go into 'Mail'.
I have not installed anything recently, Apps or Software. Nothing has changed (by me anyway) since working perfectly and now. And as far as I can see it is only 'Mail' that is affected.

Just upgraded to Outlook 2007 from useless Windows Mail, and I am worried about syncing my phone to the Outlook calendar. Will my iPhone appointments be erased when I sync it to my empty Outlook calendar? I have the most current version of the iPhone OS, itunes, etc. I just don't want to lose everything from the calendar on my iPhone, but I would really like to have the two calendars synced (through USB).

Large Email With Attachment Won't Delete ...
This is a very frustrating situation:
1. Someone sent me an email with two images totalling 40mb. Whenever I send it to the trash and try to empty the trash Mail quits and returns to the iPhone home screen. Upon re-opening Mail, I find that the aforementioned email has gone back to the inbox along with other deleted emails.
Question 1. How can I get rid of this email?
2. I have gone into the iPhone Settings and switched off the mail account but when I switch it back on again it just goes back to its last position (all emails sitting inside the inbox, I expected it to delete the account and all emails which accompanied it, especially the large email mentioned above).
Question 2. Is there a way to delete the email account on either the iPhone or in iTunes? I have a few email accounts and only select the ones I need to use on the iPhone by clicking each one within iTunes, but that has never worked (I have to go into the iPhone settings and make the ones I don't want to use as inactive). Also, within iTunes, I have just deselected the aforementioned email account with the large 40mb email and synced the iPhone, but unfortunately it didn't switch it off and thus the account and all emails are still on the iPhone. Help!

hello all, I recently had my phone replaced and I am trying to get back to where I was. I am having a problem with the iPhone not picking up my email and I am not getting any notifications. exchange email says incorrect password ...
I've set up a microsoft exchange email on my iphone, and it worked great for a few hours, but now it keeps popping up and telling me I have the wrong password. I haven't changed the password and I entered the same one in my phone that I use to log in via computer. I am 100% certain I've entered the right password. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Multiple Outlook 2007 Profiles ...
I'm using Outlook 2007 and have 2 pop 3 email accounts setup. When I open Outlook I can select either profile without issue. How can I sync the secondary outlook profile with my iphone? I go to the Info tab, Mail Accounts and when I select Outlook it only recognizes the primary.
Also, how can I export my calendar and contacts from my iphone back to my secondary profile in Outlook 2007?

Genius problems on new 3.1 iPhone ...
Unsure where this question is really supposed to go in all the forum subcategories, but I just got a new 32GB 3GS and am having frustrating issues with Genius.
If I try to pick any songs in my library to create a Genius playlist from, it never finds anything, no matter how popular the song is I pick.
Worse, if I play any of the default Genius Mixes, I get "unknown/unknown/unknown" in the play area and either it stops or takes me back to the home screen.
Any idea what's going on? I stopped by the Apple store but they didn't have an appointment for hours and I couldn't wait. One of the guys at the store suggested a full Software Restore. Again, this phone is like 3 days old. A full software restore already?
Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions that might help please let me know. Otherwise I guess I'll go the full software restore and actually make an appointment (I didn't know you were supposed to do that) at the Apple Store.

3.0 imap Gmail Unread Message ...
Ever since the update to 3.0 my imap Gmail account on my iPhone shows that I have one unread message. It is blank, dated 12/31/00. I cannot open it or delete it, and it's always there. It wasn't fixed in any of the subsequent updates. I looked through Gmail threads and several people posted the same problem, but no solution. Any ideas?

Delegate for Executive getting delay ...
Seems like a lot of people are having calendar issues. Well, let me add one more issue to this to see if anyone has any answers.
Our Admin is a delegate for three Executives -two have Blackberry's, one has the Iphone. We are using MS Outlook 2007 with Exchange Server 2003. We have tested using MS Outlook 2003 with Exchange Server 2003 as well and have the same issue.
When the Admin creates meetings, the meetings don't show up on the Executives calendar (the one with the Iphone) right away. The meetings eventually show up, but it takes anywhere between 30 seconds to 4 hours. This only happens to the Exec with the IPhone. The meetings post within 5 seconds for the other two Execs that have the Blackberry's. The Admin has all the calendars open and is able to see the meetings get posted (or in this case, not get posted on the one calendar). The Admin is not happy and wants us to fix this. When the delays take a long time to post, she really gets mad. We have checked various discussion boards, posts, Google, and Yahoo but so far, can't find anything. We have also opened a case with Microsoft and have spent over 30 hours with various support levels troubleshooting. So far, everything points to the Iphone.
The Exec with the IPhone will not use a Blackberry, period. We support Blackberry's but recently had to start supporting IPhones. And now, we have these issues.
Hope someone can offer some assistance.

The Admin has all the calendars open and is able to see the meetings get posted (or in this case, not get posted on the one calendar). The Admin is not happy and wants us to fix this. When the delays take a long time to post, she really gets mad. We have checked various discussion boards, posts, Google, and Yahoo but so far, can't find anything. We have also opened a case with Microsoft and have spent over 30 hours with various support levels troubleshooting. So far, everything points to the Iphone.
The Exec with the IPhone will not use a Blackberry, period. We support Blackberry's but recently had to start supporting IPhones. And now, we have these issues.
Hope someone can offer some assistance.

Problem between MM and Outlook 2007 ...
We are having a problem between MM and Outlook 2007.
First some 2-4 events on MM were differing by exactly 7 hours from the events on OL07.
So we fixed them on Outlook and set the MM Control Panel in Vista to overwrite the iPhone data with the Outlook data. After they were both the same we would change the setting to Sync.
It starts the sync process and after 2 minutes an error pops up, "Unable to Sync Contacts." Any suggestions how to get the OL07 events to MM?

Limiting what the iPhone downloads ...
It doesn't appear there's a way to do this, but it would be nice if I could limit the timeframe for downloading email messages. In other words, if the phone gets some emails and I delete them and it can get some more, it only does that if they are more recent than a certain date. I don't want it getting emails that are two or three days old, for instance. I have my computer set to delete them only after a certain number of days. This is mainly so that I can still retrieve them again if there is a problem or if I have to use web access to view something, it will still be there for awhile. But I generally don't want my iPhone downloading old emails. Perhaps there's a way to limit that and I've missed it?

Syncing problems between Address book, ...
I have just purchased an iPhone and have tried syncing. This seems successful except I have noticed that since updating contacts in address book these have not moved to the iPhone (or entourage) at subsequent syncs.
I found however if I update entourage the contact details do move into address book and iPhone, and when updating my iPhone, address book and entourage are updated at the next sync. So clearly I can work this way.
However my question is... is there a way of updating iPhone and Entourage through my address Book?

Google Sync(Push Gmail) causing ...
Every since I tried using gmail via Exchange on the iphone mail client I been unable to sync contacts. I have tried deleting the mail account, reinstalling the mail client, resetting isync using pref pane, unistalling and reinstalling itunes including todays itunes update, I have tried doing a complete reset of my iphone and I'm still unable to sync contacts. I get the message "iTunes could not sync information to the iphone because another sync client is already running." Also I can't get the 3.1.2 software update to install because it chrashes iTunes when it varies the update with Apple. I am running out of ideas on how to fix these issues. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hello out there, I hope someone can help me with this. I have duplicate entries in my iPhone calendar. I sync ical with MobileMe, and the sync iCal in iTunes is disabled. I'm not sure why I suddenly have duplicate entries.
Is there an easy fix to this? The problem is I don't know which duplicate to erase on the iPhone. This has completely messed up my calendar, and I can't take the chance to erase all entries on my computer.
Any suggestion would be most welcome.

I setup an "Exchange" account to sync my contacts (and mails, but mainly I'm interested in contacts, as far as that's concerned) from Google Gmail to my iPhone.
If data is entered correctly, contacts can be synced more or less well to the iPhone. I found, however, that the listing of the country isn't consistent.
Have a look at this screenshot, please.
You can see there, that the country in Google is entered as "Deutschland". When viewing the contact details in Contacts.app on the iPhone, it's also shown as "Deutschland" (and it's also used as "Deutschland", when clicking on it to see the map).
BUT: When editing the adress, it's shown as "Schweiz".
Why's that? And can I do anything about it?

I am getting the error message "Cannot Get Mail - the connection to the server "mail.holtononline.com" failed.
Now, this has worked until this week, plus it is not only this mail account. The only thing they have in common is I have purchased all the domains through ICDSoft

I bought a new computer (MacBook Pro) and migrated my programmes from by old Mac Powerbook. Have also have synced my iphone to this new computer.
Now all my contacts and my calendar events appear on my iphone as double entries.
Mobileme entries look fine.

I don't understand. My biggest gripe about iPhone was that when my client emailed me meeting invites, I couldn't view them.

I have an account with RR and the sub account I set up is for my business. I set it up in mail on my iPhone and it shows up just fine. But when I send from the iPhone it sends a copy of the message to itself. Why is this? and is there a way to stop this? When I send from Mail app on computer it doesn't send a copy to itself. Just wondering what setting it is that allows this to happen...

Cannot delete sent messages? ...
Just got my new iPhone 3GS, set up my email account, no problem. As soon as I opened my account, there were 1,200 sent messages from my old Blackberry in the sent folder. I cannot delete the messages, getting the following message:
Unable to Move Message
The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash
Any ideas?
Also, if I can delete these, is there a way to do a mass delete?

iPhone Mail: New mail appears, makes ...
This is a very annoying problem. My iPhone checks for new mail, downloads it, it appears in the Inbox, phone makes the sound notification, then the new mail disappears. I press the refresh button, and the entire sequence takes place again. The only way I can fix this, is by restarting the phone. Having to restart my phone everytime I get a new message is unacceptable-it makes me consider other options for a phone. Anyone have suggestions for a fix?

iPhone can't forward messages with ...
My problem is when I receive an email with an attachment I can view the attachment but can't forward the attachment. Example, I receive an email with pictures. I can view all pictures in the email but when I try to forward the email the person that gets the email only gets the text portion. The pictures do not forward. The received email shows where the pictures should be but only small question marks appear. Why does this happen? How can this be fixed?... Yes, I am including attachments from original message.

iphone calendar losing appointments ...
Today I missed an important meeting, because the appointment disappeared from the calendar on my iphone. It has happened a couple of times before. I can't figure it out. The appointment is right there on my calendar. Later, it disappears. I have a macbook and sync automatically through Mobileme. When it disappears on the iphone, the next sync also removes it from ical on my computer. It is a huge problem - I can't trust my calendar and I rely on it hour to hour each day. AOL POP3 sent mail doesn't save ...
I have my aol account set up on my iphone as a pop3 account so that it doesn't delete the email off of the server. My gmail account is set up as an imap account but when I delete mail from the iphone it remains on the server, is there anyway to set the aol account as imap where it acts in the same manner? Right now when I set the aol account as imap if I delete mail on the iphone it purges it from the server so when I go back with outlook later to save the email it cannot download the mail I deleted on the iphone as it is gone from the server.

They've changed the calendar ...
I used to be able to see immediately when I had more than one appointment on one day, they were all listed underneath the calendar. Now, after updating, I see only one appointment and I have to scroll down to see the rest, there is not even a scroll bar, to show that I need to scroll down, until i touch the screen.
Why oh why to they have to ruin stuff all the time. It wasn't broken so please don't break it!

Yahoo mail will not, "Load More ...
When I go into my Yahoo mail account using the iPhone's mail app, scroll down to the bottom of my list in my inbox, and press the, "Load More Messages" button it will not load more. I have 1000 contacts in Outlook that I would like to transfer to my new iPhone. I have been told that I need to import them in v-card format, but I don't know how to save them in v-card format. When i try exporting them from Outlook, the only 2 export options are Export To A File and Export RSS Feed. Syncing Contacts Takes Long Time ...
I am a fairly new iPhone user syncing to a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. It seems my syncing of contacts takes an unusually long time. I only have 240 contacts in Address Book and even if I have not made any changes to a contact, iTunes sits on Syncing Contacts for several minutes. Eventually it does move on to Calendar, Notes, etc. but those all go very quickly. The couple of times that the contacts sync quickly it seems like some updates did not actually sync. Something seems wrong.
Any ideas what could be going on or more importantly, how I can correct this slow syncing?

google calendar subscriptions not ...
Hi, i've setup my iphone calendar to sync with google calendar. normal entries i put on iphone, or that i put in google calendar manually sync without a problem. If i subscribe to calendars in google calendars though none of those appear on my iphone. Viewing subscribed events in google calendars directly, initially some calendars were only showing up on a top horizontal line above the calendar, so i guessed maybe there was no alarm set. i also added some other calendars which showed up directly in my google calendar with specific times set. None of these synced to my iphone though. if i click on an event though and tell it to copy to my main calendar, syncing works fine. is there some way to fix this? im subscribed to lots of calendars manually copying them one by one would be a pain and not something i would do. anybody got solutions?

I am using a MacBook Pro with Entourage linking into Exchange (latest version and with patches). I only sync over air - mail and contacts work fine but calendar entries on the iphone (3Gs) don't get updated on Entourage, but it works the other way round. Strangely enough if a calendar entry is made on Entourage I can delete it from my laptop with the iphone!

Yahoo mail sending does NOT send ...

I had no way of contacting Apple direct.. so here I am. You guys need to help me!
The next paragraphs are of emails.
I have a massive problem!!! Which i hope you can help with. I have a bill for 500euro.I finally found out why! Mail with attachment, that I thought I sent did NOT send since the 14th Oct. Looks like it has been uploading and trying to send since that date. I think only when I was using the internet this would keep trying to send. I have max out my monthly 3gb limit with Orange in Austria and they finally blocked my phone today. 2gb over my limit since the start of the monthly cycle which was 10 days ago on the 10th. 10 days 5gb = 500euro! I have a massive problem!!! Which i hope you can help with. I have a bill for 500euro.I finally found out why! Mail with attachment, that I thought I sent did NOT send since the 14th Oct. Looks like it has been uploading and trying to send since that date. I think only when I was using the internet this would keep trying to send. I have max out my monthly 3gb limit with Orange in Austria and they finally blocked my phone today. 2gb over my limit since the start of the monthly cycle which was 10 days ago on the 10th. 10 days 5gb = 500euro! Can you please please help me and send me some details that state that yahoo has a technical issue and that's why my usage went through the roof. Trouble syncing calendar and contacts ...
I have had my iPhone for over a year and have had not problems syning my calendar and contacts from my PC (Office) to my iPhone until yesterday. The syncing process starts,on the iTunes page I see that the back up is created then it switches to "Syncing Contacts" and stays on that status indefinitely - this morning I finally stopped the syncing process after about 20 minutes - the entire time it stayed on Syncing Contacts. Not sure what I need to do to correct this ... can anyone help!

Hey, I have a little annoying problem on my iPhone. In mail, when I receive a photo attachment and click it, it I get the spinning icon... but it never loads the photo. In order to get the photo to show up, I have to restart the phone. Any idea why this is or what I can do?

Address Book Associates Field does not ...
Apple went to the trouble of getting custom field names in the Mac OS Address Book to synchronize with the iPhone (which is wonderful), but they left one field 'unsyncable'; the associates field. If you list a contact's manager name, spouse name, child name, etc. in Address Book, it does not sync with the iPhone (OS 3.0.1) 'Phone' application. This is very useful (and embarrasment-preventing) when needing to remember the name of a contact's manager, wife, child, etc. Does anyone have any idea why Apple left this out of the sync? Certainly it couldn't have to do with saving memory...

I type up an email and attach an excel file to it, then save it as a draft (in my @me.com drafts).
The draft email is now visible in the drafts folder on all of my devices: apple mail on my computer that I originally used, my iphone mail drafts, and also by signing on to www.me.com and opening my mail drafts.
one problem is when you open up an email draft on me.com that was created on a computer mail.app, only to see the message body text lose all of its formatting and appear to be jumbled html.
My main concern / question is:
The email draft with attachment appears to be in tact on me.com and on the original computer, but NOT on the iphone. On the iphone, the attachment seems to disappear. Well, not disappear, because it gets replaced by a small rectangle with a blue question mark in it. Basically you cannot view the attachment on the iphone. When you try to send this draft from the iphone, it works, but with jumbled text

I use an exchange server. Is there any way at all to sync notes and most importantly tasks with the iPhone?

When I send mail from my Gmail account on my iPhone, I can't find record of it in my Gmail account when I log on from my computer. This results in me sometimes sending emails twice, because I can't see that I've already responded. Can anyone help please?

Double entries in contacts after ...
I sync my gmail with mac address book and with iPhone. I told iTunes to sync with gmail and also told the address book to do the same. But I keep getting double entries in contacts.
First I tried to fix this by merging the contacts in gmail. But after sync they came back. Then I tried by deleting the doubles on my iPhone, same problem after sync. Then I tried deleting the doubles from my address book on the mac, same here.
Whats is really weird is that every time other contacts are doubled. And in gmail in all contacts sometimes even tripled or more.
This is really annoying! Going through 2500 contacts , again and again trying to merge or delete, is no fun!
Please, does anyone knows how to solve this?

Hi everyone,
Following subscribed calendars moving to mobile me in the 3.1 update I'm having problems.
First off I removed the subscribed calendars from my iPhone (accounts) so to remove the duplicates.
I have around 8 subscribed calendars but the main ones causing issues are my wifes 'home' and 'work' calendars which change/update regularly. When she creates an appointment it gets pushed to ical on my mac, but isn't being pushed to my iphone, which is where I want to see the appointment 70% of the time.
This is also happening vice versa for her iPhone and my appointments.
Any advice greatly received!!!

Have recently set up an IMAP email account for my business on both my Mac and my iPhone.
Anything read or deleted on my Mac syncs with my iPhone as it should but when I read the email on my iPhone it does NOT appear as 'read' on my Mac. In fact, it marks itself as unread again if left for a while. Also mail deleted on the phone does not appear deleted on my Mac.

PUSH me.com mail, but still using ...
Since 1995, I have had a pobox.com e-mail alias which means I have never had to send out all those annoying "my e-mail address is changing" e-mails to all my contacts. On the downside, I am on every spam list on the internet (but fortunately, pobox.com filters thousands of them for me each day).
I currently use MobileMe for my primary mailbox, and I have my pobox.com address set to forward to my real @mac.com address.
On Mac Mail, I can easily set up a mail account that uses IMAP to retrieve mail from me.com, and when I sent mail the outgoing mail server is set to pobox.com so I can send "from" my pobox.com address securely, and any replies get filtered back through pobox.com.
On the iPhone, this does not seem possible. I have a me.com entry, which gives me access to PUSH calendars, mail and contacts, but if I try to configure it to use pobox.com for the outgoing server, I lose the PUSH integration.
My solution has been to have both a me.com mailbox, and a pobox.com mailbox. I set up the me.com to work with contacts and calendars, and leave the mail part off. The pobox.com account is set up like my desktop mail -- me.com for IMAP/incoming and the pobox.com server for outgoing.
Doing this means I do not get push notifies on incoming e-mail. And if I turn both accounts on, I get notifications on me.com then need to go in to the pobox.com account and let it load so I can read/reply so my messages come from pobox.com and not from the unfiltered me.com address.

I've been away on deployment for 5 months but have continued to use my calendar on my iPhone even though I did not have any network connections. Now that I'm back I want my calendars to sync up again the way they did before I left but they aren't. I've tried turning synching off then on again but nothing has changed.

Ok, I've looked through all the other threads - of which there are many - and tried all options thus far - still no good.
Here's the situation.

For the last few months (maybe longer than that) my gmail has Pushed every email I have ever received. I have it set to check ever hour, push is off and notifications are off as well but every time I get an email, my phone beeps one second later. Anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I if I have an exchange email account set up, the battery drains within a matter of hours. I have deleted and reentered the email 3 times and it has had problems EVERY single time.
I am so freaking tired of this dang phone and its disaster of an email setup.

Syncing problems- "another sync client ...
I get an error message when I try to sync my wife's iPhone with our home computer (Contacts Calendar only- music is manually managed). Logged into her account, when the phone tries to sync it says "iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone " " because another sync client is already running."
Hers is the only phone synced to this account, although I often get music from this computer on another account.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I have restored my phone, updated it, deleted email account and still same crap over and over i fixed it and then right back to deleting all my email off my server. I have a POP yahoo acct. I just got my 3g not to long ago. However, im having some issues with emails.
I have it set to fetch manually, have push turned off.
I want to be able to download my emails ONLY if i choose. I dont want it to push to my phone. I have tried everything, but no matter what, my emails will continue to download throughout the day. Its random times too.
I have tried a Reset, please dont ask again..working on my 4th already.
Is there some setting im missing? IM sure i got it all...a few different places.

Just got the new iPhone 3Gs, and I have an iPod Touch (1st gen). Can't delete email with large ...
Received two email with large attachments (photos in format that iphone doesn't recognize). Now can't delete or move to trash these two email. They just return to inbox and mail freezes, goes black, or returns to home screen. Clearing out all other mail in trash doesn't help. Reset doesn't help. I can still receive new email to my inbox and delete those just fine, but these two large email with attachments are stuck in my inbox.

Is there some way for me to delete more than one E-mail message from my inbox at a time?
Currently I seem to be able to select only one E-mail message at a time and then click the trash-can at the bottom of the screen to delete it.

Earlier today I added one contact in my Address Book and edited another.
After several hours, neither change has shown up on MobileMe nor on my iPhone.
Changes that I made to iCal have shown up both in MobileMe and on my iPhone.
I have even "forced" a sync but Contacts refuse to sync.
Any ideas?

Everyone may already know this - but it is worth repeating - Yahoo / Apple have released a simple CalDav Synch method - note that the Yahoo end is still Beta but it has been in development about 12 months.
Can I sync with my iPhone over the air?
Last Updated: August 18, 2009If you are running iPhone 3.0 software (released Summer of 2009) or newer, syncing calendar to your iPhone can be done without plugging into your computer.
1.Go to your iPhone settings application.
2.Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

4.Tap "Other" and then tap "Add CalDAV Account".
5.For the "Server" you can simply type "yahoo"

My phone seems to be storing every email address I send to. When I create a new message and start to type in an address it brings up every email address I have ever sent to including those I only used one time. How do I delete these email addresses and prevent the phone from storing addresses not in my contacts?

Like a lot of us, I have had a difficult time with "Notes" and syncing my iPhone and my Mac Book Pro.
While I do not have all of the answers, I would like to provide some information - based on experience.
First, it is necessary to clear up some confusion.
On the iPhone there is an app called Notes. I will refer to this as Notes(iPhone/app).
On the iPhone there is a Folder in Mail called Notes. I will refer to this as Notes(iPhone/Mail).
On the Mac there is a category in Mail, within Reminders called Notes. I will refer to this as Notes(Mac/Mail).
1. In order to sync Notes(iPhone/app) with your Mac you must connect via USB. There is no wireless/MobileMe way to sync.
2. If you create a Note in Notes(iPhone/app) and then sync via USB with your Mac, the Note will appear in Mail, in the Reminders category, in the On My Mac folder.
3. If you create a Note on your Mac from Mail, in the name@me.com folder in Reminders, it will automatically show up on your iPhone in the Mail app in Notes(iPhone/Mail) but it will not show up in the iPhone app Notes(iPhone/app).
4. If you sync via USB, the Note you created in 3. will show up in the iPhone app Notes(iPhone/app).

Gmail and Hotmail question ...
I am thinking about getting an iphone and my friend has one. He uses hotmail as his email service. He does have his hotmail account linked up to the mail app that comes with the iphone. When he opens the app, his new email is downloaded and afterwards, he deletes the email. However, if he were to go directly to hotmail's website, those same emails he deleted will still be in his inbox. So basically, yes he can view his new emails, but it's not reflected on hotmail's website.
Is that the same case with gmail? I use gmail and wanna know if I use the mail app that comes with the iphone, will all of my mail folders appear in the app and will everything be "same time?" So to say if i delete an email from the mail application, would it reflected if i go right to my gmail account online?

Post 3.1 Update, First Sync Mis-aligns ...
Anyone else have issues with the first sync after 3.1 bringing up a series of conflicts to resolve centered around newly mis-aligned address book fields? Both my phone and my wife's phone, syncing with the same Mac address book list, decided that every non-empty "child" field in a phone contact was suddenly a "brother" instead. Easy resolution during the sync because iTunes raised the alert that there were conflicts, but just want to raise the issue so Apple knows of it. Bottom line, they were all "child" before the update, and somehow during the initial sync, iTunes decided they were "brother".

I have a mobileme account that has synched my iPhone just fine but I decided to manually sync it on iTunes and I now have a double calendar on my iPhone. Every item is listed twice and it's really annoying. How do I erase the iCal "from my iPhone" and keep the one that is from my MobileMe account.

Unsent message? ...
My iPhone has an unsent email message that I can't get rid of. When I first got the phone, I set up an email account and mistyped the SMTP address. Then I tried to send a test message, which failed, then later I either fixed the typo or I may have deleted that entire account and created a new one. I'm guessing that the mail app is probably still trying to send the test message to the bad address.
I can't find an Outbox folder, and can't figure out how else to get rid of the unsent message (it always says "1 unsent message" at the bottom of the mail window).
I also get several "Connection to the server failed" messages whenever I use mail. I don't know if these are related to the unsent message or something else, but they are very consistent, and annoying.
Any idea what I can do here?

MIssing Outbox and an Unsent Message ...
My iPhone has a message at the bottom of the email screen that says I have 1 unsent message. I assume that would be in my Outbox, but that has disappeared! I have all my mailboxes from Mail on the iPhone, but there is nothing in the Mail Draft folder. I need to know what message was not sent! And I would like to get that annoying message off. Any ideas?

Mail program (Mobile Me) says '1 unsent message' though there is no message waiting to be sent.

I upgraded my iPhone 3G to OS 3.0. Afterwards I have been unable to send email using my Yahoo! Mail account even though no error messages are shown and the email seems to go through. I tried the suggestions on the Apple website with no luck. Any thoughts?

Alerts for Calendar ...
Hi there.
Is it possible to set the alert for another time other than those set out under "Event Alert"
When i put a reminder in my calendar i want to be able to set how far in advance the alert goes off. The choices are very limited, in my opinion, as i usually have my alerts between 2-4 hours. The only options i have are 1 or 2 hours.
Not quite sure what "day of event"? is all about, anybody know?

"Ghost" Draft messages on iPhone! ...
Hello, I wonder if anyone can help with this....The Genius's at the Apple Store yesterday were baffled and couldn't resolve it. On two of my mail account on the iPhone, ( both are .mac / Mobile Me account addresses ) I have one "Draft" message indicated as being present, but on opening the "Draft" folder in each account there's nothing there, and the "Edit" button is grey'd out so even if something did show up I couldn't erase it. So I can't clear these two "ghost" drafts from the iPhone. I checked with Mobile Me on the web and neither of the two accounts have any Draft messages in their folders, and neither do any of the Mail accounts on my three Mac's that are all sync'd together via Mobile Me........Any ideas?, Thanks!

Hi,
my father-in-law has an iPhone 3G which he's used with his PC without a problem. I finally convinced him to buy a MacBook Pro (which he did today) and we've been unable to move the contacts from the iPhone to the laptop. The phone is connected to iTunes and all looks normal but when we select "contacts" to be synced to the laptop and then click apply, nothing happens. Tried to sync it, the phone and iTunes say "syncing" but the contacts are not showing up in the laptop's address book - very embarassing. I'm assuming it's something I'm doing wrong but I can't for the life of me find an answer.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

In the iphone inbox the word "To" ...
Has anyone else noticed in their inbox, mine specifically is through gmail that in front of the subject all the contents has a a small gray box with the letters "To." I was late to adding the 3.1.2 update, and I feel like that was a small addition. However it seems meaningless to me and I don't understand its significance, obviously it's not TO or for the subject matter, so what else could it mean?

Double entries in contacts after ...
I sync my gmail with mac address book and with iPhone. I told iTunes to sync with gmail and also told the address book to do the same. But I keep getting double entries in contacts.
First I tried to fix this by merging the contacts in gmail. But after sync they came back. Then I tried by deleting the doubles on my iPhone, same problem after sync. Then I tried deleting the doubles from my address book on the mac, same here.
Whats is really weird is that every time other contacts are doubled. And in gmail in all contacts sometimes even tripled or more.
This is really annoying! Going through 2500 contacts , again and again trying to merge or delete, is no fun!
Please, does anyone knows how to solve this?
