I have 3.0 beta on my iPhone 3G and am attempting to e-mail calendar appointments from my work system to my iPhone to add to my calendar. I can do this with the 'send a calendar via e-mail' option in Outlook 2007, which tags an .ics file to the e-mail. (The security requirements at my employer do not allow Exchange Server syncing for iPhone as yet, so I have to manually add contacts individually http://e-mailed .vcs files, which worked fine but was a hassle and now calendar appointments http://e-mailed .ics files. I won't be able to get my work mail until my employer is satisfied with Apples security protocols for our exchange server-hopefully in the next few months or so.) Anyway, my iPhone doesn't seem to want to do anything with the .ics file when I attempt to open it. Unlike the previous OS, the .ics file is able to be opened, not grayed out, and appears to want to do something with it. iPhone 3.0 is supposed to be able to read and handle these.
