AOL POP3 sent mail doesn't save ...

I have my aol account set up on my iphone as a pop3 account so that it doesn't delete the email off of the server. My gmail account is set up as an imap account but when I delete mail from the iphone it remains on the server, is there anyway to set the aol account as imap where it acts in the same manner? Right now when I set the aol account as imap if I delete mail on the iphone it purges it from the server so when I go back with outlook later to save the email it cannot download the mail I deleted on the iphone as it is gone from the server.

The pop3 settings are working fine in this regard as it doesn't remove the mail from the server when deleted on the iphone which is what I want but when I send or reply to mail on the iphone using the pop3 aol account it sends just fine, the receiver gets the mail, but it doesn't save the sent mail anywhere, not on the iphone and not on the aol servers. I want to be able to send email from my phone but I absolutely have to be able to save all emails and the sent mail going no where is unacceptable.

I want to be able to delete mail off my iphone but save it on the server but also be able to save sent email as well. Pop3 works to keep email on the server but doesn't save sent email anywhere. Imap works with saving sent email on the phone but removes the mail from the server to my iphone. There has to be a way to have nothing removed from the server but also save sent email? Thanks for the help.
