HELP! Contacts not changing on iPhone! ...

HELP PLEASE!

I have had this problem in the past and dumped MobileMe once for it, but now that I've paid the MIGHTY APPLE for my MobileMe subscription, I'd prefer to keep the service.

However...

I am unable to change the contacts on my iPhone: I cannot delete them and I cannot change information to an existing contact.

If I attempt to go into a contact on the phone, edit it, tap "Delete" and confirm the deletion, when I return to the contact list, golly, it's STILL THERE!

Similarly, if I edit a contact, to say, add a birthday or change the person's last name, the change doesn't stick and it doesn't update Address Book on my iMac or on MobileMe.

And NOW, all of a sudden, I can't add a custom ringtone to a contact. Whether I choose a ringtone that comes with the phone or a ringtone that I had added via iTunes, I select the new ringtone and return to the contact edit screen and within a few seconds, it jumps back--by itself--to Marimba.

Lastly, no changes I make to contacts on MobileMe or in Address Book on my iMac are being synced to my iPhone.

YES: I DO have syncing properly configured both on my iPhone and on my iMac.

Oh yeh! One more thing: If I delete MobileMe completely from my iPhone and tell it to delete the contacts on my phone, it won't. They stick around.

I am using iPhone OS 3.1, but that doesn't seem to matter, this has happened in the past with other versions of the OS. This seems to be a MobileMe issue.

PLEASE HELP!

Thank you!

Kirk
