Strange things happening with Contacts ...

Hi All...
I have a weird issue, when ever I add a contact directly on my iphone - NOT through Contacts app - it doesnt appear in my contacts list, the only way I can find it is if I search for it using the new search in 3.0

Example:
Get a message from a new contact, from within messages click add new contact. Save the new contact with a name. Go to contacts app and the new contact doesnt appear. Quit contacts app and go to the new search in OS 3.0. Search for the contact name, contact appears! This happens no matter where I add a new contact unless I add them inside the contacts app itself.

Anyone got any advice please, I am lost on what to do - Please help!
