Hi all,
First post so go easy
I've never had problem with an iPhone update before, but I updated my 16GB 3G iPhone to 3.1.2 from 3.1 trying to solve the issue of the battery draining quickly. It has unfortunately played havoc, seemingly to do with my work Kerio account, setup for Exchange (which has worked flawlessly until yesterday) - here are the symptoms.
When I try and open Mail, it has a think about it, brings up a white screen with the refresh and new message icons, then dumps me back to the home screen. Happens every single time.
When I try and go to the mail account in Settings to delete the account, it crashes and dumps me back to the home screen (though I have no problem accessing the settings for my mobile me or g-mail accounts).
When I go to Phone or Contacts and browse my contacts, when I tap on a contact to call them, there is a 20-40 second pause before it brings up the contact. Infuriating to say the least
Calendars seem OK and seem to still be syncing, but the calendar is very slow to open up.
Here's what I've tried:
About 10 restores, including half of them in DFU mode, two restores to version 3.1 using the firmware from the Apple site, trying every backup stretching back to last week from my Time Machine, opening Mail in Airplane Mode with no Wi-Fi on in case it was trying to get to the server, deleting the device from my account in Kerio admin - no joy with any of that, it seems that now it's broken, it's broken for good.
The only thing that does seem to work is setting it up as a new phone, but I'm loathed to do this because I'll lose all my old texts, notes, as well as other stuff I probably have forgotten about.
Anyone seen this before, or anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to sort this out?
